"Ashley Fredette is a local singer/songwriter with a flare for the vintage sound. Inspired by jazz and the oldies, her music is reminiscent of old times, with a modern twist. Fredette released her debut album, Heart on my Sleeve in 2018 and since then has been heard around the city, performing at various venues and events including Transcanada Brewing Co., Niakwa Country Club, Joe Black Coffee + Bar, Montana’s, Happy Days on Henderson, Prairie Ink and more. She was also showcase artist at Northern Touch Music Festival last year. In 2017, she mounted a Fringe show, Resilient, featuring 10 original songs. When not performing, she teaches music, choir and musical theatre. She hopes that you enjoy her music, and encourages you to spread the word if you like what you hear!"

Philip Collins is a Winnipeg based trumpet player who has been playing for a number of years. A versatile musician, Philip has covered a vast range of styles from Jazz to Rock, and Reggae to Country. A former member of the Dirty Catfish Brass Band, Moses Mayes, and the Solutions, Philip now plays with Sir Luc and the Dukes and WCMA award winners Apollo Suns, as well as leading his own projects around the city. Tonight, Philip will be joined by Kyle Cobb to entertain you with a combination of original tunes and standards.

Kyle Cobb is a jazz guitarist residing in Winnipeg. He is entering his 4th year of the Thad studies program at the University of Manitoba.

Prairie born Monika Wall is an award winning singer and a songwriter whose music has taken many journeys. The warmth of roots/pop and the power of gospel/blues are infused throughout her music and have led her from an African American gospel choir to majestic 1000 year old European cathedrals, country churches and concert halls. Drawing from an incredibly vast world her music has an eclectic sound with a cinematic quality. Her contagious and somehow familiar originals feel like a long lost friend rediscovered, reaching the deepest caverns of the heart.

With a Masters Degree in vocal performance from world renowned Indiana University Bloomington, IN. she has cultivated her artistry as a singer and in 2016 she was honoured to be among an outstanding group of Canadian composers presented by the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra.

Monika released a new album, Earth, in Fall 2018. Filled with songs of grounding yourself, finding your place on this earth and experiencing joy on the journey it is a a place of rest in the hustle of a mad world.

Doug Edmond, singer, songwriter, pianist and flutist is an independent jazz roots/alternative artist. Doug performs solo or with his trio or five piece band in many local and festival venues across the province and north west Ontario. His previous two CDs and over 25 live performances per year over the past 8 years reflect diverse musical influences and styles. He has performed at the past five TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival paying tribute to Tom Waits in 2012.

Skipping Stones is his third album produced by juno award winner Mitch Dorge of Crash Test Dummies fame. The new tunes reflect personal experiences that connect with listeners demonstrating a soulful approach to song writing and a true understanding of the relationship of his audience. Doug’s lyrics and singing talent continues to draw in his audience be it a small intimate lounge or a large outdoor festival stage.

The Webster Brothers are an offshoot of The Webster Project. Where they differ is that the latter parlays a classic acoustic sound crossed with energetic, dynamic vocal arrangements. "This format enables us to give attention and treatment to songs one might not expect" says bassist/singer/mandolin player Kyle Chartier. The songs are arranged in a singer/songwriter format with sparse instrumentation and rich harmonies. Modern day story telling with an old school feel.

Onna Lou is a singer-songwriter born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her music fuses Latin pop with Argentine Folk, jazz, Latin American rhythms, tango and even flamenco. Her lyrics make a deep impact on the listener since she strikes the depth of human nature with her sharp-sighted views and her subtle but powerful poetry. She has been performing as Onna Lou since 2011. Performing in Argentina, the United States, and Canada organizing individual and group performances with amazing artists. In the last few years she has studied and worked with multiple Latin Grammy winners Javier Limón, Alejandro Sanz and internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosana. Ahora (Now) is her first album; it is warm and intimate with a mainly acoustic sound.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Luana Cunha is an experienced singer who has been performing in many events including weddings, graduations, and concerts since her childhood. She holds a degree in Literature and a Master Degree in Linguistics and has promoted and directed several artistic events involving Brazilian popular music. Passionate about Samba and Bossa Nova, Luana is happy to perform with Marcos. She hopes the audience will enjoy watching the show as much as she enjoys doing it.

Recently graduated from Brandon University (M.Mus.) in Brandon, MB, Marcos Martins also studied at Conservatório Brasileiro de Música (B.Mus.) and Escola de Música Villa-Lobos (music initiation), both in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A big fan of Samba e Bossa Nova, Marcos joined forces with Luana Cunha to bring to life a project that filled their hearts with joy, and that needed to be shared with the world!

Tonight Philip will be joined by Aaron Shorr (guitar) to entertain you with a combination of original tunes and standards.

Aaron Shorr has been an active member of Winnipeg's Jazz scene for nearly a decade. Shorr was first introduced to jazz music in his early teens through his grandmother's record collection. Influenced by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, he has a strong connection to the American Songbook and jazz tradition. He's an alumni of the UofM School of Music and Humber College of Music and has studied with some of the international icons of jazz guitar.
