Matt Mayr grew up in Manitouwadge, a small mining town north of Lake Superior, where he learned to hunt and fish from a young age. He studied English Literature at York University and Creative Writing at the Humber School for Writers. His first novel, Bad City, was published in 2015, and was a quarter finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. In 2016, he landed an Ontario Arts Council grant for the opening pages of Things Worth Burying. He lives in Toronto with his family, where he works as an arborist.
