Many proud parents, grandparents, and friends were on hand Tuesday, April 28 at McNally Robinson Polo Park to hear the five winners of the writing contest read their entries aloud.
, author of several books in the Haunted Canada series, started the evening off with an engaging talk about the importance of writers reading their work aloud to everyone and anyone who'll listen!

Join us at Prairie Ink Restaurant at either our or location on for a special Mother's Day Buffet prepared by Executive Chef .
There will be three seatings: 10:00 am, noon, and 2:00 pm. Reservations are required.
The cost per plate is $23.95 for adults and $12.50 for children twelve and under.

It is with great pleasure that McNally Robinson Booksellers announces the winners of it's 3rd annual grade 5-6 writing contest. We received a record number of entries this year and for that we thank you. Some were scary in a funny way, some had a real sense of time and place, others were wonderfully researched, and all were a genuine attempt to tell a great Canadian story. The best ones did all the above, and made our spines tingle as well! To those whose entries were not finalists, a special thank you. Keep on writing - perhaps one day you may find something you wrote on our store shelves!

The 2009 shortlist for one of Poetry's most lucrative prizes, the Griffin Poetry Prize, was announced April 6. 485 books of Poetry from 32 countries have been whittled down to a 3 book Canadian shortlist and a 4 book International shortlist
collection Crabwise to the Hounds The Sentinel and Revolver make up the Canadian shortlist.

Our Polo Park store is hosting several events for kids this spring. One that promises to be great fun is the Needle Felting Workshop on Saturday, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. In this workshop you can create and decorate your own book bag. All supplies are included and cost is $20.00. For ages 10 and up. Pre-registration is required.
