Colt Express: A train robber's delight

Saturday, Mar 05, 2016 at 11:54am

On the 11th of July, 1899 at 10 am, the Union Pacific Express has left Folsom, New Mexico, with 47 passengers on board. After a few minutes, gunfire and hurrying footsteps on the roof can be heard. Heavily armed bandits have come to rob honest citizens of their wallets and jewels.

In Colt Express you are a bandit! Dodging the marshal, competing with your fellow desperadoes and grabbing the loot. Your opponents can be punched or shot as you maneuver through the cars and on the roof of an actual 3-D train as your game board. Clever card mechanics mean injuries are real without any player elimination and the train changes length for 2-5 bandits to enjoy a frantic scramble. Try the 2015 German game of the year now!

For 2 to 6 players, ages 8 & up. Playing time 30-40 minutes. $62.50.

Games of the Season 2015

Saturday, Oct 31, 2015 at 9:10am

This holiday season, our McNally Robinson Game Masters recommend either the campaign-based survival game, Pandemic Legacy, or the casual party game for all ages, Pickles to Penguins.

In Pandemic Legacy, the world is on the brink of disaster. Your disease fighting team must keep four deadly diseases at bay for a whole year. Each month will bring new surprises, and your actions in each game will have repercussions on the next. Will you let cities fall to the diseases? Will your team be enough to keep the viruses at bay for a whole year?

Pandemic Legacy is available in two editions: Red and Blue. Both sets play the exact same way, but the different colour schemes help prevent confusion when you and your friends have multiple campaigns on the go. For the casual gamer, the different coloured sets simply mean you get to select your preference of Red or Blue.

For 2 to 4 players. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

Pickles to Penguins is a hilarious party game where you need a fast hand, mind, and mouth if you're going to win. Take a deep breath and let the action and chaos begin. Two cards are turned over and placed alongside the center deck. These are the cards which all players will play to. Players frantically place cards from their own deck on top of either card, but they must say out loud an aspect of commonality between their card and the card in the center. For example: A train picture on a airplane picture "Modes of transport." The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game.

Ages 6 and above.
