Vicious Gardens Game
-
Games & Puzzles
$47.00
Reader Reward Price: $42.30
Vicious Gardens is a card game that combines the joy of gardening with the thrill of being a total jerk. Strategically cultivate your garden, harvest plants, and sabotage others in a cut-throat competition.
Grow and harvest eccentric plants such as Fuzzlesquash, Spotted Bildge, or Floofberry in your garden. Over 80 uniquely named and illustrated plants are guaranteed to captivate and entertain — even if your neighbor ends up stealing them!
Vicious Gardens has a unique cast of specialists ready to sabotage your opponents and help your garden flourish: Wormsworth, Beebeard, the Curmudgeon, and many more. Use these Specialists to obtain garden upgrades and Victory Cards. But beware, your competition can hire their own Specialists.
Obtain special abilities by harvesting your plants to attain Victory Cards, too. Adding Victory Cards such as Carnivorous Plants and Gnudist Gnomes are your surest way to victory. Once a gardener has accumulated three Victory Cards in their garden, the End of the Season (a.k.a. end of the game) begins!
Gameplay Basics
Step 1: Plant - Plant into different Plots based on category: Fruit, Flowers, Produce, and Herbs. These are worth one point each, but you will also need to harvest these to use Specialists or obtain Victory Cards. Gardening is all about balance!
Step 2: Use Specialists - Strategically play your Specialists to improve your garden or sabotage others. The best gardeners get their hands dirty ;)
Step 3: Harvest for Victory Cards - Harvest the requisite plants and obtain your Victory Cards before other gardeners can! These are worth eight points each and provide unique bonuses for you to take advantage of.
End the Season! - The gardener that obtains their third Victory Card ends the season! Take the End of Season token and prepare to gloat while other gardeners take their final turn.
Team Play! - Partner-up or triple-up to work together in your quest of botanic domination. This game mode is easy to apply and, in our opinion, almost more delightfully vicious. Simply plant in your partner's garden and team up in ruining other's. Misery loves company after all.

Planegea is primal fantasy roleplaying. Whatever you want to explore in 5E—slaying monstrous creatures, navigating political intrigue, exploring ancient ruins, crafting enchanted weapons, infiltrating evil cults, battling, building, casting, carousing—it’s all here. Planegea rises out of our earliest ancestral memory, a world we can barely recognize, which holds all the adventure we can imagine. You won’t find limitations on class or kinship here; rather, the world is filled with ideas and inspiration for running a long and glorious game set before written words, hammered ore, and plowed fields. Drawn from the traditions of sword & sorcery pulp adventures, infused with the blood-pounding thrills of the Fury Road, and caught in the jaws of primordial dreams, Planegea has adventures for everyone who ever felt the cold wind raise a chill of hunt and hope on their raw skin. Nothing is as you expect in Planegea. Elves are shimmering dream-walkers, dwarves are half stone, humans are beast-tamers, halflings are silent stalkers, gnomes are filthy scavengers, and dragonborn are just a heartbeat away from their draconic ancestors. There are no great, universal gods—only a patchwork quilt of local deities, often appearing in the shapes you least expect, with powers that are bought with offerings and strange favors. In Planegea, the planes of existence have not yet separated, and a warrior can travel by foot from the Sea of Stars to the infinite, volcanic peak of Blood Mountain; but along the way, that warrior must battle everything from cold alien intelligences to the genie caravans; from the four empires of the giants to the monsters that hunt the howling peaks and roaring oceans that ring the Great Valley; from the cold, bony fingers of the Nightmare World to the terrifying jaws of the jungle known by as the Venom Abyss. Every step of the journey is plagued with danger and death. What's in the Book? FOR PLAYERS: Clanfire & Wilderness, introducing you to the unexpected truths and exciting realities of life in Planegea. Kinships, revealing the primordial form of familiar faces like the gnomes and godmarked (tieflings), plus four all-new kinships including starlings and saurians! Classes, including all-new sub-classes. Backgrounds, twenty primeval 5E backgrounds for customizing your Planegea characters. Equipment & Trade, including a comprehensive guide for how to adapt any treasure to the Stone Age. Spells, with dozens of new options for spellcasters! AND GAME MASTERS: Planegea Adventures, including wilderness tools, clan tools, and adventure environments for your Stone Age campaigns. The Primal World, a comprehensive gazetteer detailing everything from Blood Mountain to the World-Fangs; from the Great Valley to the Giant Kingdoms; from Nod to the Kingdom of the Dead. Factions & Threats, with dozens of enemies and allies for the PCs to encounter in their journeys. Godsforge Game 2e

Games & Puzzles

The World of Godsforge Etherium is the ultimate source of magical power. Once, it was plentiful and the land was peaceful, but Etherium slowly receded from the land, dwindling to a single site. The mighty fought for this mystic forge, where powerful artifacts were crafted. By weaving Etherium with other elements, titans were summoned and devastating sorceries conjured, giving wizards the power of gods. You are a great mage, battling for this last reservoir of Etherium. You’ll craft creations and cast spells to defeat your rivals, leaving you as master of the Godsforge! Gameplay Basics In Godsforge, you are an elite spellcaster. You roll, re-roll, group, and combine dice whose results channel the crucial elements you need to summon creations and cast sorceries from your cards. For example, two 4s can each channel Water, which you can combine with a Veilstone to craft the Leviathan, a powerful attacker. But you have two re-rolls each turn, and if one of them becomes a 5 or better, they can be added together to channel Feywood, a crucial component to the Oakenshield, which will protect you turn after turn. To increase your options even further, die results of 1 are Etherium, a “wild” element that can substitute for any number on the die, and results of 6 channel Veilstones, which can increase or decrease another die result by 1 — and can even be stored from turn to turn for future use. In short: your choices matter! Whatever you choose to create or cast, your goal is simple: take the last ebb of your opponents’ life force and be the last one standing! Godsforge features simultaneous play. All players roll their dice, craft their spells, and launch their attacks at the same time. There’s no downtime — everyone’s always playing. Multiplayer conflict is straightforward. All players attack to their left and defend to their right to avoid kingmaking. A perfectly balanced power ramp ensures each player’s forces rise dramatically to a climactic endgame. Endgame conditions bring play to a swift conclusion as soon as any player dies. Eliminated players get right back into the next game’s action, no waiting. Format: Board 56 Poker-sized cards 30 Veilstones 17 Six-sided dice Four scoring tokens Rulebook Number of Players: 2-4 Players Playing Time: 20-40 minutes Recommended Ages: 14+

Ars Magica Rpg 5th Edition Sc
-
Trade paperback
$39.00
Reader Reward Price: $35.10
Ars Magica is the award-winning roleplaying game by Jonathan Tweet and Mark Rein•Hagen about wizards and their allies in Mythic Europe. This flexible, deeply built world can support games that are historically accurate or fantasy-based, epic or small scale, political or personal. Players work together to tell the story of their covenant — all of the magi, their companions, and grogs. This history can span decades. It might be heroic, tragic, or both in turn. The covenant could influence the entirety of Mythic Europe or the fates of a small corner of the world. Spells will be cast. Duels won and lost. Houses may rise and fall. But magic is forever. Ars Magica is a troupe-style, storytelling game. This means that players will not only play a magus, but also the companions and grogs who serve them. Each of these characters contributes to the covenant they belong to, and therefore to the story itself. The game is famous for its magic rules, which set a new standard for RPG magic systems. The system is divided into arts, each of which comes with a set of verbs and nouns (called Techniques and Forms). Players simply put them together into phrases like "Control Fire" to represent what they want to do. This fifth edition core book contains all of the rules you need to play, and there’s an enormous library of Ars Magica supplements in our catalog to help develop your campaign. As a rule, older sourcebooks are usable with the newest edition.

Once Upon a Time is a storytelling card game that puts the players in control of an amazing and oftentimes nonsensical tale of heroism and returning to the same castle inexplicably six or seven times. Once Upon a Time is certainly a different game to bust out on your game nights, but if you haven't tried it, I can only say that we found it to be quite a bit of fun.
