Michael Hutchinson Hybrid Book Launch

Friday Oct 07 2022 7:00 pm, Winnipeg, Grant Park in the Atrium, Streaming on YouTube

Join Michael Hutchinson for the launch of The Case of the Rigged Race: A Mighty Muskrats Mystery (Second Story Press) featuring a reading, conversation and Q&A, followed by a book signing. Hosted by Melissa Ridgen of APTN.

The event will be hosted live in the Atrium of McNally Robinson Booksellers, Grant Park and also available as a simultaneous YouTube stream with live chat. Before arriving, please review details of how to attend physical events here at the store.

The Mighty Muskrats are back with a chilly new mystery! Windy Lake First Nation is hosting the annual Trappers Festival, and the four Mighty Muskrats are excited about the sled-dog races and the chance to visit with family and friends from far and wide. But during the Teen Sled Race, the lead dog is the victim of a frightening accident that may be more than it seems.

Between mysterious strangers seen lurking by the trail and a loud group of animal rights protestors, the Muskrats have a lot of suspects. Despite the chill of winter, the case is heating up for Sam, Otter, Atim, and Chickadee!

Michael Hutchinson is Swampy Cree from the Treaty 5 area and a member of the Misipawistik Cree Nation. He wrote the Mighty Muskrats Mystery series to educate young Canadians, build pride in First Nation and impoverished youth, and create a better Canadian and First Nations relationship.

Host Melissa Ridgen is a proud Red River Métis and award-winning journalist who has spent more than 24 years covering crime, courts, politics, business and entertainment for newspapers in four provinces. She then joined APTN Investigates in 2009 and APTN National News in 2018 and in that time has garnered numerous awards and nominations including from the World Indigenous Television Broadcasters Network (2013), Canadian Association of Journalists (2016, 2019) and Canadian Screen Awards (2018, 2019).
