Porcupines to Polar Bears, his fourth book of stories about his forty-five year career, he confines himself to the Canadian scene.
is a Kenya born, Glasgow schooled wildlife veterinarian, author and storyteller who, after ten years working six African countries, joined the faculty at Saskatoon’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine. As a member of the Storytellers of Canada – Conteurs du Canada he has told stories on five continents. In 2015 he was selected by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre to be one of three touring tellers. His gigs were in Ontario. InWildlife veterinarian and storyteller
shares his adventures with diverse creatures from Saskatoon’s Forestry Farm Zoo, Sable Island, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Northwest Territories, the High Arctic and the Canadian prairies. He dealt with the routine and not–so routine challenges of working across Canada from 1975 until his retirement from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.The collection of tales in this book are about the animals, not only porcupines and polar bears, but beavers, birds, bison, seals, skunks and many others, as well as the people he encountered during those years.
