Winnipeg launch of We Don't Talk About That: An Amazing Story of Survival.

Giselle Roeder’s life seems to have come in decades. Ten years of a relatively happy childhood until her village was on the path of the mighty Russian army as they advanced towards Berlin. Then ten with horrors no child should have to experience. She witnessed the total devastation of Germany, the establishment of East and West Germany, with an interrupted education. The third decade saw her escape to the west, the Berlin Wall, new challenges, an unwanted affair, stalking and finally the wish to just get away from it all, to emigrate to Canada.

We Don’t Talk About That is an eye opener. People involved in WWII were, and still are reluctant to talk about it to this day. This account of Giselle’s life and millions of others is called a ‘social document’. One historian says “it should be placed next to Anne Frank’s Diary.”
