Launch of My Word!: The Larry Updike Story.

How much trouble can a naïve religious kid from Saskatchewan with a dream of becoming a minister get into when he stumbles into radio while on the road to redemption? My Word! The Larry Updike Story is one man’s journey through life as he fights to keep his feet on two different paths. The hedonism and liberty of rock and roll radio versus a deep seeded longing for knowledge and contentment is the ultimate struggle. The ability to tame and control both of those worlds, the ultimate accomplishment...

A performer of music since the age of 10. An ordained minister by the age of 21. A rock and roll radio legend for eternity. Updike has been everywhere (man).

From the debauchery of The Tom and Larry Show on FM rock radio in the 80’s to a talk radio phenomenon on CJOB and later on CBC, Manitoba Broadcaster’s Hall of Famer Larry Updike still found time to finish a Theology degree, and a Philosophy degree at the University of Winnipeg, earning the honour of Distinguished Alumni (and a Plato Prize to boot).

An advocate for the less fortunate, Larry has spent time as the spokesperson for Siloam Mission and as a supporter of The War Amps, earning him the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. He is also a relentless advocate for individuals with autism after his own son Gordon was diagnosed with the disorder in 1994.
