Annie Deeley -- Poetry Reading

Wednesday Sep 11 2013 7:00 pm, Winnipeg, Grant Park in the Community Classroom
NOTE: This event has already taken place. Please visit this page to see our upcoming events.

Poet Annie Deeley will be reading from her new collection, Brother: a subscription only chapbook available through David Zieroth’s Alfred Gustav Press.

Brother tells the story of a boy, his difficult birth, his family’s struggles to cope, to carry on, in an era when no support was available for children with special needs: no home care, no respite care, no school. It was a time when doctors recommended placement as the only option, first in an institution, later in a group home. There is darkness in these poems; there is also laughter, strength and courage.

Annie Deeley is a Winnipeg poet. When she is not writing or working to support seniors, you might find her in her kayak, on her bike or on the porch with a book. This is her first publication. She is working on a longer collection of poems.
