2008 Eisner Award Nominees Announced

The list of nominees for the 2008 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards has been released. The Eisner's, named after the man who coined the term "graphic novel" and creator of The Spirit have long been considered comic's "Oscars". 2008 brings a diverse collection of titles and creators to the award.

Notable among the books nominated are: DC Comics' Y: The Last Man, and The Spirit, Dark Horse Comics' Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, and The Umbrella Academy, and Marvel Comics' The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born.

Creators to receive multiple nominations include Brian K. Vaughn, Joss Whedon, James Sturm and Fred Chao.

The winners in all categories will be announced Friday July 25th at San Diego's Comic-Con International. To see a complete list of nominees, click here.
