Everyone likes a good bargain. If the recent bestseller The Official Guide to Being a Winnipeg Cheapskate is any indication, Winnipeggers are especially fond of saving money.
Which is why we're proud to offer a wide selection of discounted bargain books at our Grant Park location. Located just beyond the General Fiction section near the mall entrance to the store, our bargain book selection boasts hundreds of titles from dozens of genres.
And don't let the term "bargain" put a bad taste in your mouth. Being labelled a 'bargain book' says nothing about the quality of the book itself. Many of the titles in our bargain section are bestsellers and award winners, including (but certainly not limited to) Stephen Fry's The Fry Chronicles; the novel Freedom by Jonathan Franzen; both The Name of the Rose and The Prague Cemetery by Umberto Eco; The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon; as well as a variety of titles by Hunter S. Thompson.
So why are they available as bargains? Sometimes publishers print too many copies and end up with overstock of certain titles, which they sell off to retailers at a considerable discount. We, the retailers, can then offer the books to the world at a fraction of the original price.
