Dry, by Barbara Sapergia

Friday, Jul 27, 2007 at 10:23am

Who knew you could write a page-turner of a thriller about wheat? Saskatoon author Barbara Sapergia has done it. Set in the not-too-distant future, this literary sci-fi novel portrays a frighteningly realistic landscape that is increasingly parched. A brother and sister strive to develop a new drought-resistant strain of wheat, in competition with a huge and ruthless multinational corporation. A compelling combination of family history and global concerns that has just been nominated for the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for best science fiction novel.
