Television Fables

Wednesday, Dec 10, 2008 at 2:26pm

Fables, an ongoing series from DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, has been delighting fantasy and comic fans for years. Now after eleven graphic novel collections, one anthology, and a spin-off title, it will be reaching out to a new audience.

ABC, which is making a name for itself with shows such as Lost, and has recently ordered a pilot episode based on Robert J. Sawyer's novel Flashforward, will soon adapt Bill Willingham's story of fairy-tale personalities living in exile in New York City. Willingham comments on the deal on comic news site Newsarama.

Fables became my favorite continuing story in comics following the end of Neil Gaiman's Sandman and Garth Ennis' Preacher, both published by Vertigo. I hope ABC gets this right.
