The Truth Is by NoNieqa Ramos (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Friday, Jan 24, 2020 at 3:19pm

The Truth Is is a beautifully written book about Verdad, a Puerto Rican teen struggling with loss and exploring love and identity. Verdad is still trying to cope with the death of her best friend Blanca when she meets Danny. Danny is the first person she allows herself to get close to since losing Blanca and as her love for him grows, so do the complications. For example, her mother does not approve of her relationship with Danny because he's trans, and Verdad is beginning to suspect that her feeling for Danny are scratching the surface of who she really is and what she really wants and are starting to unveil her true identity.

The Truth Is, is this incredible book by NoNieqa Ramos that is very addictive and touches on many different topics including love, identity, racism, LGBTQ+, family and teenage struggles. I would absolutely recommend this book to other teens if any of these topics interest you.

Elon Musk: A Mission to Save the World by Anna Crowley Redding (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Elon Musk is the visionary behind SpaceX and CEO of the electric car company Tesla. He is working on unique and daring improvements to both public transit and solar energy. And then, there's his highly-publicized plans for colonizing Mars. But behind the mind-blowing headlines and legendary drive is the story of a bullied and beaten school boy, who through creativity and determination decided to rewrite his story and find his own way to make the world a better place. And to do so with a sense of fun and style.

Elon Mush: A Mission to Save the World does a great job at describing each and every aspect of his life. From his first small website to the massive corporate empires of SpaceX and Tesla, you will learn many things about the past, present, and future of his mission to save the world.

The Grey Sisters by Jo Treggiari (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

$21.99

D and Spider have always been close friends, and they are further united in their shared heartbreak: they both lost siblings in a horrific plane crash two years earlier. A chance sighting of a beloved cuddly toy in a photograph of the only survivor spurs D to finally seek closure. She and Spider and their friend, Min, set off on a road trip to the mountainside site of that terrible crash. Ariel has lived on the mountain all her life. She and her extended family are looked down upon by neighboring townsfolk and she has learned to live by her wits, trusting few people outside of her isolated, survivalist community. A terrifying attack sends her down the mountain for help; on her way, she comes upon the three girls -- a chance encounter that will have far-reaching consequences for them all.

I read the The Grey Sisters by Jo Treggiari. This book was so much fun to read! It started out very calm and almost innocent but when it got closer to the end, it starts to get full of adventure and suspense. I will say that some of the things that go on in the community beside the mountain can be a bit sensitive, such as rape, gun violence, as well as in one part a dog gets shot. For people who do not like these subjects I do not recommend this books. I do recommend this book to people who enjoy thrillers and the outdoors. This book is full of emotions and jaw dropping discoveries and is definitely a new favourite book of mine!

Coral by Sara Ella (from a Two Thumbs Up reviewer)

Coral

$23.99

Coral has the Disease that is feared by all merpeople. It makes her feel emotions. Brooke is affected by depression and anxiety that makes life hard to bear. Merrick seems to have a good life with his father being one of the richest people on the planet. However his family is controlled by his dictator dad. They meet each other, and their life finally begins.

Coral by Sara Ella is a sad but very good book. I would rate it a 4 out of 5 stars and I would highly recommend it.
