To much disdain, 'Persepolis' pulled from curriculum
Thursday, Mar 21, 2013 at 7:07pmIn a move that's been dubbed "Orwellian", Marjane Satrapi's critically acclaimed graphic memoir Persepolis was recently banned from Chicago classrooms and school libraries. Persepolis, which was originally published in France in 2000, details Satrapi's childhood surrounding the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, followed by her adolescence studying in Vienna, and her return to Iran as a young adult.

, whoseThis group of 10 women from Foam Lake, SK have raised nearly $1.4 million for cancer causes with their series of self-published cookbooks.
Les Recettes du Kiosque de Limonade by and (Canada) and The Microsoft Cookbook (USA) were the other winners in this category. The Gourmand Awards were handed out on February 23rd in Paris. Canadian chef 's Au Pied de Cochon: Sugar Shack was honoured as Cookbook of the Year.
