The nominees of the 2014 Oscars have been announced. And of the films nominated this year, a surprising number have been adapted from books!

• The Great Gatsby, adapted from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
• The Invisible Woman, adapted from The Invisible Woman by Claire Tomalin
• The Book Thief, adapted from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
• Long Walk to Freedom, adapted from Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela
• Lone Survivor, adapted from Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell
• The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, adapted from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The winners will be announced live on Oscar Sunday, March 2nd.

Recently, Rainbow Rowell, author of such YA novels as Eleanor and Park and Fangirl, was contacted by one of our booksellers -- who is herself a mega fangirl -- with a few questions. And Ms. Rowell was nice enough to oblige with a few answers.

This December, Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet will be performing the holiday classic Nutcracker. The show runs from December 19th to the 29th, and you can find all of the details (as well as purchase tickets) right on the RWB's website.
You can also win a pair of tickets inside of out Grant Park store!
Enter your ballot in the dropbox in-store, which can be found near the mall entrance and the travel books section, and you will be entered to win the tickets. The raffle will take place and the winner chosen on December 10th, so hurry down to put in your name!
