Return of the Ghost Who Walks

The rights to the comic character The Phantom have been acquired by Dynamite Entertainment. Dynamite, a company that has made a name for itself with other media tie-in properties such as Army of Darkness, The Lone Ranger and Battlestar Galactica, seeks to revitalize the character by bringing comic giant Alex Ross onboard to update the Phantom's costume. Ross, a fan favourite artist who has worked on such books as Marvels and Kingdom Come, also recently designed the new costume for Marvel Comics' Captain America.

Horror's Brian Keene Resurrects Devil-Slayer for Marvel Comics

At the Wizard World Philidelphia convention it was revealed that Brian Keene, author of notable horror novels The Rising and City of the Dead, will be reimagining the obscure 70's character of the Devil-Slayer for Marvel Comics MAX line.

Graphic Novel Writing and Illustration Contest at Saskatoon Store

Write and illustrate your own 10-15 page graphic novel, with original characters, story, and artwork. Content must be appropriate for ages 10-14.

The contest is open to anyone ages 10-14.

Submission deadline is August 9, 2008. 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place winners will be contacted August 16. All submissions must be left at the Kids Desk in an envelope marked with the author/illustrator’s name, age, address, phone number, and parent’s name.

Submissions may be retrieved after August 16, 2008.
