As Head Book Buyer for McNally Robinson Booksellers I get to learn about a lot of books in advance of their release. Here are a couple of October releases I'm most looking forward to reading.
wrote perhaps the best book on the economic collapse, The Big Short, as well as Moneyball, which has been made into a movie currently in theatres, and Blind Side, another recent movie. may be the author best able to make economics read like a pot boiler. I expect he'll deliver that again with this new exploration of the world in the years post collapse.
One of my own personal favorites, Cain has now been translated and has just arrived on shelves. It represents another retelling from the Bible, something did in The Gospel According to Jesus Christ. And if you haven't read Blindness yet, what are you waiting for?

I'm a sucker for Norse Mythology and Urban Fantasy. When I saw that
' series starring blacksmith Sarah Beauhall fused the two together I became very interested indeed.Black Blade Blues and its sequel, Honeyed Words both feature a fabulous cast of characters and a unique take on my favourite myth cycle, and I can't recommend the series highly enough. I was fortunate to meet J.A. Pitts at 2010's World Fantasy Convention in Columbus, Ohio and he was gracious enough to agree to answer some questions about his writing. Honeyed Words will be releasing July 5th, 2011.
