The 2010 Prairie Fire McNally Robinson Booksellers Writing Contest.

McNally Robinson Booksellers is proud to be a sponsor of the 2010 Prairie Fire McNally Robinson Booksellers Writing Contest.
Three contests, $6,000 in cash prizes and a chance to publish with one of the best.
1. The Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Award Contest: one to three poems per entry, maximum 150 lines. Judge: Christian Bök.
2. The Short Fiction Contest: one story per entry, maximum 10,000 words. Judge: Joan Thomas.
3. The Creative Non-Fiction Contest: one article per entry, maximum 5,000 words. Judge: Hal Niedzviecki.
First prize in each category is $1,250; second prize $500; and third prize $250. In addition, the first prize winner of the poetry contest will receive a jeweller-cast replica of Bliss Carman's silver and turquoise ring donated by the Banff Centre for the Arts.

The 2009 Prairie Fire/McNally Robinson Writing Contests

Three contests, $6,000 in cash prizes and a chance to publish with the best. Prairie Fire is a Manitoba-based magazine of Canadian writing that is a consistent winner at the National Magazine Awards and the Western Magazine Awards. McNally Robinson Booksellers is proud to be a sponsor of three contests:

  • The Bliss Carman Poetry Contest (1-3 poems per entry, maximum 150 lines). Judge: Don Domanski

  • The Short Fiction Contest (one story per entry, maximum 10,000 words). Judge: Paul Quarrington

  • The Creative Non-Fiction Contest (one article per entry, maximum 5,000 words). Judge: Charles Wilkins

First prize in each category is $1,250, second prize $500, and third prize $250. In addition, the first prize winner of the poetry contest will receive a replica of Bliss Carman?s silver and turquoise ring donated by the Banff Centre for the Arts.
