Liona Boyd. No Remedy for Love. CD $14.99. The winner of five Juno Awards and known the world over as “The First Lady of the Guitar,” Boyd has released twenty-eight albums, spanning a wide range of styles. The central theme of her new album is love in its many incarnations, from love for the planet and animals to romantic love and love for the place she now calls home. No Remedy for Love was inspired by the melodic folk, pop and classical music she grew up with and embraces a variety of influences across its seventeen tracks. (Universal. August)
Vijay Iyer Sextet. Far From Over. CD $16.99. His fifth release for ECM since 2014 finds the keyboardist-composer and his dynamic sextet reaching a new peak. Furthering an artistry that led The Guardian to call Iyer "one of the world's most inventive new-generation jazz pianists" Far From Over features a wealth of jazz history even as it pushes boldly forward. The music ranges from the thrillingly explosive to the cathartically elegiac, with melodic hooks, entrancing atmosphere, rhythmic muscle and an elemental spirit all part of the allure. (Universal. August)

This year's Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Picture is currently playing at the Globe Cinema. The film is a visually splendorous meditation on the ways in which we seek out beauty in our lives as a way to postpone death. I cannot recommend this film enough. It retroactively shot up to a spot in my Top 5 films of last year. Go see it if you have the chance!
If you can't make it out to the Globe to see it on the big screen, worry not! We have copies of the Criterion Blu Ray/DVD combo in stock! With Criterion's magnificent attention to detail, and the calibre of the film itself, this is sure to be one of 2014's best releases.

Wednesday, Mar 05, 2014 at 6:07pm
After over thirteen years of grooming an eclectic music selection that attracts audiophiles from across the city, our music manager Michael Wolch has been tapped to host the morning radio show on Classic 107.
Our new music manager, Andy Morton, assures a smooth transition. With over twenty-five years in the music business (the Folk Festival, Musiplex, Into the Music, HMV), Andy is poised to make McNally Robinson's music department -- not to mention our great selection of movies on DVD and Blu-Ray -- all you have come to expect, while also adding the flavours of his own unique tastes to an ever-expanding offering of music on CD and vinyl.
So farewell, Michael; you will be missed. And Andy, welcome to the family!
