Winnipegger Donates Million Dollar Science Fiction Collection

95 year old Winnipeg man, Chester Cuthbert has donated his collection of science fiction and fantasy to the University of Alberta. Cuthbert's collection numbered more than sixty thousand books and covered over eighty years of the genres publication. Merrill Distad, director of libraries for the University of Alberta describes the collector as a "central figure in the development of science fiction as a literary genre in Canada."

Horror in Winnipeg

The good news for Canadian speculative fiction fans just keeps coming. It was previously announced that the 2009 World Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention would be held in Montreal, and now Winnipeg will host the World Horror Convention that same year.
