International DUBLIN Award 2017 shortlist

The shortlist for this year's International DUBLIN Literary Award (formerly known as the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award) has been revealed.
The award honours any book from across the world that has been written in or translated to English. It comes with a €100,000 prize (approximately $141K Canadian), sponsored entirely by the City of Dublin, Ireland, which makes it one of the richest literary prizes in the world.

The winners of this year's Pulitzer Prizes have been announced.
The Pulitzers honour the best in journalism and the arts produced in the United States in the past year, and the winner in each category is awarded a $15,000 (US) cash prize.
The full list of 2017 winners can be found on the Pulitzer Prize website. Here is a rundown of this year's literary winners:
• Drama: Sweat by Lynn Nottage
• Fiction: The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
• History: Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Uprising of 1971 and Its Legacy by Heather Ann Thompson
• Biography or Autobiography: The Return: Fathers, Sons and the Land in Between by Hisham Matar
• General Nonfiction: Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond
• Poetry: Olio by Tyehimba Jess
2017 Poetry Awards shortlists

Last week, the League of Canadian Poets announced the 2017 Poetry Awards shortlists for the Gerald Lampert and Pat Lowther Memorial Awards, the Raymond Souster Award, and the finalists for the 2017 Sheri-D Wilson Golden Beret Award, each of which honours a specific form of Canadian poetry published last year.

The 2017 shortlists for the Hugo Awards have been unveiled.
The awards honour the greatest science fiction writing of the past year, and winners are decided by popular vote. These winners will be announced on August 11th, 2017, at the Hugo Awards Ceremony in Helsinki.

The finalists for this year's Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction, formerly known as the Orange Prize, have been chosen.
The award, which "celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women's writing from throughout the world", comes with a £30,000 prize.
The shortlist includes:
• Stay With Me by Ayobámi Adébáyo
• The Power by Naomi Alderman
• The Dark Circle by Linda Grant
• The Sport of Kings by C.E. Morgan
• First Love by Gwendoline Riley
• Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien
The winner will be announced on June 3rd, 2017, in London.
