Governor General's Literary Awards 2019 winners

The winners of the 2019 Governor General's Literary Awards, Canada's oldest and most prestigious literary prizes, have been announced.

Of particular note is Winnipeg's Joan Thomas, who won the Fiction award (in English) for her novel Five Wives, which we had the pleasure of launching earlier this year.

Governor General's Literary Awards 2019 finalists

The finalists for the 2019 Governor General's Literary Awards have been announced! The prizes are given out in seven English-language categories and in seven French-language categories.

Giller Prize 2019 longlist

The Scotiabank Giller Prize, which was created in honour of the late literary journalist Doris Giller and recognizes excellence in Canadian literature, unveiled its longlist for the 2019 award.

The shortlist will be announced on September 30th, and the winner revealed on November 18th.

Booker Prize 2019 shortlist

The finalists of this year's Booker Prize for Fiction have been announced.

Of particular note, Margaret Atwood is the only Canadian to make the 2019 shortlist. She was nominated for The Testaments, a sequel to her iconic novel The Handmaid's Tale, which will be released September 10th, 2019.
