I'll admit it, I am more of a crime fiction fan than a mystery fan. Give me the seedy grit of Jim Thompson, Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. So imagine my surprise when Winnipeg's Karen Dudley managed to completely engage me with her debut novel Hoot to Kill.

A Crooked Little Review

Warren Ellis is a madman. And I mean this in the best possible way. Private detective and weirdness magnet Michael McGill awakens to a huge brown rat urinating in his coffee mug. This is as good as his life will get for the majority of Crooked Little Vein's madcap narrative.
