Not My Dog

Description
Del and Ivy, a couple in their early 40's, move to a farm in a remote area of the prairies near a small town called Edgeworthy. Tired of city life, they buy a farm and its two thousand acres as a retreat from the fast pace of urban life. A cast of colorful characters, including a well-intentioned, wealthy farmer who tries to take Del under his wing, a wise, androgynous post mistress, a stuttering auctioneer, and an irascible keeper of the local bar, all interact with the newcomers in ways that run the gamut from hostile to heartwarming. Del and Ivy also discover a dark history to their farm and are forced to confront its current manifestation in a dangerous character nicknamed 'Hunter', who means to reclaim his birthright. The story follows their initiation into this new adventure and highlights the urban/rural dichotomy that creates many obstacles for them (for Del especially) as they learn how life is lived on farms and in small towns on the prairies. In the midst of it all a wild dog becomes Del's confidant. For everyone but the dog, things will change.
