About this Author

Sara Williams is the author or co-author of numerous books dealing with gardening in cold climates, such as Best Trees and Shrubs for the Prairies; Creating the Prairie Xeriscape and Gardening Naturally. She was the founder and first editor of The Saskatchewan Gardener. Sara has a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Horticultural Extension from the University of Saskatchewan (along with an Honourary Doctorate of Law) as well as a B.A. in English and History from the University of Michigan. Retired as the Horticultural Specialist, Extension Division, University of Saskatchewan, she continues to write articles and to give workshops on a wide range of gardening topics throughout the Canadian prairies. Bob Bors is the Head of the Fruit Breeding Program, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences, at the University of Saskatchewan. He earned a B.Sc. from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. from the University of Guelph. He teaches courses and workshops on fruit production, propagation, greenhouse management and general horticulture. His program actively breeds and maintains over a dozen fruit crops and is world famous for breeding haskaps, dwarf sour cherries and Under-the-Sea. coleus that are taking gardeners by storm.
