A Note from Hell
Description
In poet-author Bola Opaleke’s collection, A Note From Hell, readers will discover pieces written as far back as the author’s high school days when the force of adolescence made the fire of dreams burn ever so violently— moments when huge dreams were built. The book reveals life’s realities, both the good and the bad, touching on themes that are relevant and common to everyone, but oftentimes overlooked. They are wittingly woven to reveal truths and to usher hope and inspiration to everyone’s heart.
Bola Opaleke was born in Ede, a village on the banks of River Osun in the western part of Nigeria. He attended the renowned Obafemi Awolowo University where he graduated with honors. Upon his relocation to Winnipeg he acquired a diploma in Addictions and Community Service. A number of his poems and essays were published in his undergraduate days and he has been privileged to deliver speeches at seminars and workshops. In 2012, his poem “Love Never Again,” was published by World Poetry Movement in the book Stars in Our Hearts. His work prominently features the abject poverty of Africa and the eroded societal values and culture. Opaleke would like to appreciate his parents, Albert and Hannah Opaleke, for making him the man that he should be.
