About this Author

Ian Boothby has been writing comedy for TV and radio since he was 13 and making his own comics since he was 16. Ian has written comic books for The Simpsons, Futurama, Mars Attacks, Scooby-Doo, The Powerpuff Girls and The Flash. Ian has also won an Eisner Award for Best Short Story along with the artist Nina Matsumoto. Sparks is his first graphic novel for children. He has also worked on various Canadian television series and is a well-known stand-up, sketch and improv comedian. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Nina Matsumoto is a Japanese Canadian illustrator and comic artist who's penciled numerous stories for Simpsons Comics. She created her own English manga series, Yokaiden, drew The Last Airbender Prequel: Zuko's Story, and contributed to many indie comic anthologies. In 2009, she won an Eisner Award for drawing a Simpsons Comics story scripted by Ian Boothby. When not working on comics, she designs official video game apparel for Fangamer.
