9 years before Rosa Parks refused to leave her seat in a bus in Montgomery, USA, Nova Scotia afro-canadian Viola Desmond was standing up against segregation too when she sat in a "whites only" section of the Roseland theatre in New Glasgow. She then became a civil rights icon in Canada. This ABC book as written by Canadian students, for Canadian students, and offers a unique representation of Viola Desmond's story. The latter's little sister, Dr. Wanda Robson, supervised and commented the publication of the book.
