Cooking without Mom
A Survival Cookbook - 30th Anniversary Edition

Description
BC BOOKS FOR EVERYBODY SELECTION 2018 For thirty years, Cooking without Mom has been a classic cookbook for those leaving home for the first time, a standard text for college students, a life saver for individuals who have lost their partners and a starting point for retirees taking up the challenges of the kitchen. It's the grad gift every parent wants their child to have and the perfect companion for stay-at-home Dads. In this new edition, recipes better reflect today's cooking trends. Over 60 new recipes have been added from wraps, quesadillas and smoothies to healthy fish and seafood recipes. Here too are appetizers, dips and sauces for all occasions and late night snacks. Now with over 150 recipes, this is a cookbook that new cooks will return to again and again. More than a cookbook though, Cooking without Mom is also a guide to domestic life, with useful information on essential grocery items, kitchen terms, food storage, how-to laundry tips, first aid basics and fire prevention.
About this Author
It all started over 40 years ago when a group of nine friends from Castlegar, BC named Margaret, Anne, Shirley, Nadeen, Kathy, two Lolas and two Marys, began a bi-weekly gathering that eventually came to be called The Hen Party. As the years passed and their families grew, they became aware of a need to assemble a kitchen "survival kit" for their children to help them break away from their mothers' apron strings and become wholly independent. From this, a cookbook was born.
