Robert D. San Souci is the author of The Talking Eggs, a 1990 Caldecott Honor Book and Coretta Scott King Honor Book, The Samurai's Daughter, The Hired Hand, and many other award-winning books, most of which are based on legend, myth, folklore, and history. He lives in San Francisco, California.
Brian Pinkney has illustrated many award-winning children's books, including Robert D. San Souci's The Faithful Friend, a 1996 Caldecott Honor Book and Coretta Scott King Honor Book. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
