About this Author

Frans Berkhout is Director of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) of the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. He has extensive research and management experience across a number of fields. His early research was concerned with the nuclear fuel cycle and radioactive waste management. His more recent work has been concerned with technology, policy and sustainability, with a special emphasis on the links between technological innovation and environmental performance.
