An engaging and highly original account of four everyday plants and their co-evolution with people. Pollan
challenges the traditional view of humans and nature.
The story of how the apple, for example, induced early Americans to spread the species across a whole new continent is fascinating. His wide-ranging references and charming manner do much to support his contention that man and nature will always be "in this boat together."
