Brain Waves is a fun-filled Canadian content ESL communication activity package for for intermediate to advanced learners. The Package comes in a loose-leaf binder and may be photocopied for classroom use. The activities are designed to help stimulate active student participation in speaking, reading and writing. Unit themes will concentrate on Geography, Customs and Traditions, Canadiana, Housing, Debates, Employment, Entertainment, History, Mock Parliaments, Travel and Tourism, Census, Surveys and Questionnaires, and Puzzles. Pair work and small group work is targeted for all of the activities and where applicable, class projects.

Mike Tiittanen is a full-time ESL teacher at the Scarborough Board of Education LINC Program. He has taught both Intermediate and Advanced levels. His TESL certification is from the University of Toronto.
