Social media provides a very interesting avenue for independent writers and musicians. Take your promotional endeavours to the next level with a website and/or blog. In this class, we will explore and discuss the concepts of 'brand', 'niche' and 'engagement', and the differences between several blogging platforms (Wordpress.com, Tumblr, Blogger and Posterous). Learn to create and customize a blog and/or website, as well as some important techniques and tips to attract quality traffic, including the "five-second rule," Search Engine Optimization, and video and newsletter creation.
What to bring? Laptop computer / tablet (with keyboard), notebook, pen.
Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube required.
