|
Winner of the 2001 Booker Prize for Fiction.
Winner of the 2001 Commonwealth Writer's Prize for Best Book.
Winner of the 2001 Booker Prize, this novel by the author of Oscar and Lucinda (another Booker winner) tells the story of Ned Kelly, a 19th century Australian champion of his people and a man for all nations. The son of Irish Immigrants, he was considered a thief and a killer in the eyes of the authorities, but a persecuted scapego in the eyes of his fellow countrymen. Kelly speaks in Carey's new novel as if from beyond the grave and with the power of legend.
