The Mozart Question

A young journalist, Lesley, gets the chance of a lifetime to interview the famous violinist Paolo Levi. Before she goes, she is warned not to ask "The Mozart Question."

When she begins the interview she tells Levi that she was told not to ask the 'Mozart Question' and promises not to, since she has no idea what it is. Levi ponders her words for a while and finally responds, "I will tell you a story. After it is over, you will need to ask me no more questions. Someone once told me that all secrets are lies. The time has come, I think, not to lie anymore."

Graphic Novel Writing and Illustration Contest at Saskatoon Store

Write and illustrate your own 10-15 page graphic novel, with original characters, story, and artwork. Content must be appropriate for ages 10-14.

The contest is open to anyone ages 10-14.

Submission deadline is August 9, 2008. 1st, 2nd and 3rd-place winners will be contacted August 16. All submissions must be left at the Kids Desk in an envelope marked with the author/illustrator’s name, age, address, phone number, and parent’s name.

Submissions may be retrieved after August 16, 2008.

Rowling Near Tears in Copyright Dispute

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was near tears while giving evidence yesterday in the copyright case being heard in front of the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, according to The Guardian newspaper. Warner Brothers and Rowling want to block publication of an unauthorized Harry Potter encyclopedia by Michigan-based RDR Books.
