The Castles of Burgundy / The Castles of Burgundy

- Games & Puzzles

by RAVENSBURGER - $52.00 - Add to Cart

The game is set in the Burgundy region of High Medieval France. Each player takes on the role of an aristocrat, originally controlling a small princedom. While playing they aim to build settlements and powerful castles, practice trade along the river, exploit silver mines, and use the knowledge of travellers. The game is about placing settlement tiles into the princedom. Every tile has a function that starts when the tile is placed. The princedom itself consists of several regions, each of which demands its own settlement tile. The core game mechanism involves two dice. The pips show the kind of action the players are allowed to do (example: roll a 2 and a 5: using the 2 the player buys a watch tower and places it on a 5 city tile which triggers the function of the tower with additional advantages). It is also possible to influence the dice, so the player is not completely subject to luck.

Catan

- Games & Puzzles

by MAYFAIR GAMES - $65.00 - Add to Cart

Cities & Knights Expansion. Dark clouds are gathering over the peaceful island of Catan. Wild barbarians, attracted by the wealth of Catan, sailed to attack the country. Fortunately, warning has given Catan time to meet the danger. The size of the barbarian army corresponds to the number of cities in Catan. Thus, for Catan to fend off the barbarian attack, the players must form a knight force as strong as the barbarian force. In addition to fending off the barbarians, players compete to build the three great metropolises of Catan. Each of these magnificent centers are worth two additional victory points. To build a metropolis, players must invest in city improvements. To acquire these improvements, players must acquire the three new types of Trade Cards: Coinage, Paper, and Cloth. These cards can only be gained by building a city next to mountain, forest, or pasture hexes. This is an expansion pack and requires ownership of Catan base-game to play.

Catan Traveler Compact Edition

- Games & Puzzles

by MAYFAIR GAMES - $60.00 - Add to Cart

Catan - Traveler is based on the same rules as the Catan base game, its "big brother." At the beginning of the game, you and your opponents each build 2 settlements on the island of Catan. If the numbers of the terrain hexes your settlements are adjacent to are rolled, you receive resources. You use these resources - ore, brick, grain, lumber, and wool - to build roads in order to reach new settlement sites, to upgrade your settlements to cities, or to buy development cards so you can, at the right moment, turn the tide in your favor. If you lack a particular resource type, you trade with your opponents. If you trade cleverly and have a little bit of luck, you have a good chance to win the game. The most important differences between "Catan - Traveler" and the "Catan" base game: -All of the game components fit in a case that occupies half the space required to store the "Catan" base game. - The game pieces are stored in drawers. During play, you can take the pieces directly from there as needed, and you can put them back into the drawers after the game has ended. - Roads, settlements, and cities have small pegs that allow you to securely plug them into the holes in the game board. That way, gusts of wind or an accidental jostle won't jumble up the pieces you have placed on the game board. - The two dice are stored in a dice shaker with transparent cover, which is why they practically can't be lost. You can roll the dice everywhere - even if no flat surface is available or there isn't enough space to throw the dice with your hand. - It takes only a couple of seconds to set up the game board for "Catan - Traveler." Open the case and place the 6 double-sided game board pieces. Since you can randomly combine the board pieces, there are hundreds of different ways to set up the island. As with the "Catan" base game, besides completely balanced terrain hex distributions the compact version also allows for set-ups containing very few hexes of a particular terrain type, for example, mountains or hills. - People frequently travel in pairs. In order for you to settle Catan together with your partner, the compact version includes the tried and tested 2-player rules and the corresponding game components. 2-4 players. Average game is 45-90 minutes. Recommended ages 10+.

Dead of Winter

- Games & Puzzles

by PLAID HAT GAMES - $96.00 - Add to Cart

Dead of Winter, the first game in the Crossroads series from Plaid Hat Games, puts 2-5 players together in a small, weakened colony of survivors in a world where most of humanity are either dead or diseased, flesh-craving monsters. Each player leads a faction of survivors with dozens of different characters in the game. Dead of Winter is a meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means the players are working together toward one common victory condition--but for each individual player to achieve victory, they must also complete their personal secret objective. This secret objective could relate to a psychological tick that's fairly harmless to most others in the colony, a dangerous obsession that could put the main objective at risk, a desire for sabotage of the main mission, or worst of all: vengeance against the colony! Certain games could end with all players winning, some winning and some losing, or all players losing. Work toward the group's goal but don't get walked all over by a loudmouth who's only looking out for their own interests! Recommended ages 12 and up. 2-5 players. Average game time is 60-90 minutes.

Elfenroads

- Games & Puzzles

by RIO GRANDE GAMES - $60.00 - Add to Cart

A combination of the game Elfenland with Elfengold and the addition of Elfensea. In Elfenland, young elves have to pass a very special test before they are accepted as grownups. All elf girls and elf boys receive a map of Elfenland, and they have to visit as many famous towns in Elfenland as possible, using the common types of transportation: dragons, unicorns, giant pigs, elfcycles, troll wagons, magic clouds, ferries and rafts. These types of transportation, however, are available in limited numbers and can only be used in specific regions. Thus, an exciting race starts among the elves to find out who will make the best use of the available transportation. The one to visit the most towns will win the game. Elfengold is an expansion to Elfenland (not Elfensea). Elfengold adds gold coins, which players use to bid for the Travel Counters and some other new items. It also adds Gold Value Tokens to the towns that indicate how much gold players earn for visiting a town. There are two different Magic Spells and and a new obstacle - a Sea Monster! We have added 2 Round Cards to make a longer game of six rounds. All these things work to make a great game even more tactical and exciting. We hope you enjoy playing with these additions. In Elfensea, just as in Elfenland, young elves have to pass a very special test before they are accepted as grownups. The same rules apply in Elfensea as in Elfenland, except as described in the rules. Also note that the map is different and the common types of transportation: dragons, unicorns, giant pigs, magic clouds, whales and rafts differ somewhat as well. As with Elfensea, these types of transportation are available in limited numbers and can only be used in specific regions. Thus, an exciting race starts among the elves to find out who will make the best use of the available transportation. The player with the most Points will win the game.
