Angela Hryniuk (Winnipeg Launch)
Wednesday Jul 09 2008 7:00 pm, Winnipeg, Grant Park, in the Travel Alcove

Winnipeg launch of pearls and forbidden fruit, poetry. Former Winnipegger Angela Hryrniuk returns home with a poetry collection fifteen years in the making.

Passion. Lust. Unrequited love. The consumption of forbidden fruit. Desire, and its outlaws. pearls & forbidden fruit is the stuff of real life: the hubris and the underbelly, the delight and the bliss – the things that we transform into the gold of wisdom and meaning. Hryniuk reaches into the depths of humanness to reveal the naked body that resides beneath the naked body. Nora Patrich’s playfully serious erotic drawings which tastefully accompany Hryniuk’s poetry elevate this volume to an Object of Art, rather than a simple book.

Hryniuk will also be presenting her recent CD, Sitting in the Lights: Guided Meditations for Relaxation and Self-balancing.

Hryniuk is a poet and a practitioner and teacher of Tibetan Buddhism.
