Launch of a 16 month calendar entitled 60 Years: For the Love of the Music, in celebration of the ’s 60th Anniversary. Historic moments featuring HRH Queen Elizabeth II, Yehundi Menuhin, Yo Yo Ma, Glenn Gould, Jack Benny, and Victor Borge are highlighted in this lavishly illustrated memento to the successful life of this musical establishment. A String Quartet will usher in the night, acts as emcee, and will present the history of the WSO. For as long as the has delighted audiences, the has been its ambassadors and supporters, within schools and the community at large.
Winnipeg Symphony OrchestraThis year the is celebrating it's 60th Anniversary season, as they continue to make memorable music for all Manitobans. During the past 60 years the collaboration of gifted musicians, volunteers, administrators, patrons, and public support has created an excellent orchestra that has crafted 60 enjoyable, relevant and meaningful programs.
WSO Women's Committee
recognizes the to be a major contributor to Winnipeg's rich cultural heritage. For as long as the WSO has been playing to audiences, the have been dedicated ambassadors and supporters. An initial focus was music education and the committee introduced the WSO concerts for school children, now an extensive, continuing community outreach program. The continues to promote awareness of the WSO in the community through organizing numerous social events and fundraising projects. Members believe the WSO to be critical to the life of our musical community and pledge their continued support for the symphony they love.
On Wednesday September 26th at 8:00pm in the Restaurant, launches his tribute to the 60th Anniversary of the WSO, with his book, Tuning the Forks: A Celebration of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
