Elinor Florence--Book Launch (Reading and Signing)
Thursday Jun 07 2018 7:00 pm, Saskatoon, Travel Alcove
Join Elinor Florence for the Saskatoon launch of Wildwood (Dundurn). Using old photographs, Elinor will present a brief slide show describing her research into our proud Canadian history.
Set in northern Alberta, Wildwood tells the story of a single mother from the big city who must spend one year living in an abandoned off-the-grid farmhouse. Molly learns the basic pioneer skills, but her greatest perils come from the brutal wilderness itself. Only the journal written by her great-aunt, the original homesteader, inspires her to struggle on.
Elinor Florence grew up on a farm near North Battleford and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan. Beginning at The Western Producer in Saskatoon, she worked as a journalist for many years and now lives in Invermere, British Columbia. Elinor’s first novel Bird’s Eye View, about a Saskatchewan farm girl who joins the air force in World War Two and interprets aerial photographs, was a Toronto Star bestseller.
