Wednesday Jan 17 2018 7:00 pm, Winnipeg, Grant Park in the Atrium

Public launch of You Canít See My Scars: A Story of Thriving During the Impossible and Living Life to the Fullest by Darren and Sara Cosentino.

In January of 2011, Sara Cosentinoís husband Darren Cosentino was given a shocking diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer. He began a whirlwind of medical treatments including over 40 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple major surgeries and 2 sudden cardiac deaths. They teamed with many physicians and health care professionals in Winnipeg, Toronto, NYC, Miami and Mexico.

Throughout this cancer journey Sara continued to work full time at Great-West Life, as a CPA, CA contributing as a Vice President in the Information Services Division. Although her experience with writing is very limited, Darrenís ability to tell stories was unmatched. The often zany predicaments they faced in combination with the truly death defying odds provided content for this book. This story is told with the hope of encouraging others who are facing similar challenges to see the beauty and humour in life despite dark situations.

In January of 2011, my husband Darren Cosentino was given a shocking diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer. He began a whirlwind of medical treatments including over 40 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple major surgeries and 2 sudden cardiac deaths. We teamed with many physicians and health care professionals in Winnipeg, Toronto, NYC, Miami and Mexico. Despite these extreme challenges, our life together continued to be filled with excitement and adventure. In the five and a half years between diagnosis and death, we travelled to Dublin where Darren took a cooking class, sipped fine wines in Rome, went deer hunting in the dead of the Canadian winter and embarked on several scuba diving excursions in Mexico. We dared to live every day. It wasnít a quest to just extend time. Throughout this cancer journey I continued to work full time at Great-West Life, as a CPA, CA contributing as a Vice President in the Information Services Division. Although my experience with writing is very limited, Darrenís ability to tell stories was unmatched. The often zany predicaments we faced in combination with the truly death defying odds provided content for this book.
