What do we learn from living and working with a dog? Dog-wise posits that if dogs make us more human, as some people suggest, then what particular dogs have to reach us is worth understanding. Based on conversations with Saskatchewan dog-owners and professional handlers, Dog-wise shares the secret of living happily with a dog, learning more about ourselves, and applying those lessons to everyday life. In Dog-wise, we meet a range of canines and share their stories—from show, detection, and assistant dogs, to search and rescue, guardian and sled dogs. We follow herding dogs at work, prepare a dog-team for sledding, and sit in on a therapy dog session.
