The land of Gensokai is in turmoil after Mishi and Taka helped overthrow the corrupt Rōjū Council. Now the New Council is asking the two friends to help re-establish peace and protect the people. Mishi, whose fighting prowess is quickly becoming renowned, has been asked to lure a band of vicious mountain raiders into the open. Meanwhile Taka, who has been touted as the greatest healer of the age, must take charge of the New Councilís frontline infirmary. To accomplish these tasks, however, Taka will have to trust a spy who has betrayed them once before, and Mishi will be forced confront the person she fears most in the world: herself.
