SOS Elms Coalition -- Booklet Launch
Monday Jun 29 2015 7:00 pm, Saskatoon, Travel Alcove
Join SOS Elms for a special presentation in celebration of the release of a new edition of the Saskatoon Tree Tour.
Highlighting the importance of getting to know your urban forest, the new Saskatoon Tree Tour booklet will encourage residents to explore some of the unique and impressive examples of species growing in Saskatoon.
The new guide includes fine examples of the basic stalwarts such as American Elm, Manitoba Maple, and Colorado Blue Spruce. It also has unique and unusual trees such as Ohio Buckeye, Douglas Fir, Amur Corktree, and Black Walnut. You may see some species that you have never heard of before and perhaps pick up ideas for new trees to try in your own yard. Five "tree destination sites" are also included, along with some historical articles about early Saskatoon tree planting.
Plants do much more than beautify our built environments. They contribute to our health, well-being, and quality of life. While we may have intuitively known this for some time, scientific evidence has confirmed these ideas.
