The adventure begins during the author's formative years in medical school and takes the reader through two decades of thought-provoking rural and urban-based ER and family practice experiences. Humorously written in an engaging mash-up of formal prose and informal medical slang with a nod to pop culture and ancient mythology, Dude is a powerful book that is certain to please readers of all stripes.
Donovan Gray graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in family and emergency medicine in 1990. After a year of ER work in Winnipeg he moved to rural Ontario to start a practice, and shortly thereafter, a family.
In 2004 Donovan, his wife Janet and their three daughters returned to Winnipeg, where he is currently a full-time ER physician. Once the north gets in your blood it's hard to get it out, though, so he continues to do regular locums in northern Ontario.
