Miriam Rudolph -- Book LaunchWednesday Mar 14 2012 7:00 pm, Winnipeg, Grant Park in the Atrium
Launch of Davidís Trip to Paraguay/Davids Reise in das Land der vielen Farben (CMU Press).
Miriam Rudolph grew up in Loma Plata, a Mennonite community in Paraguay. Growing up mostly outdoors, she greatly enjoyed her childhood in that amazingly colourful country. In 2003 she moved to the somewhat less colourful wintry Winnipeg to study Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba, going on to receive a major in art and a minor in English literature, followed in 2010 by a Bachelor of Education. Miriam currently works as an artist, and she also loves writing and illustrating stories.
Davidís Trip to Paraguay was inspired by the extraordinary journey made by Miriamís grandfather, who moved from Canada to Paraguay in the late 1920s. It is both an exceptional book for children and also a beautiful art work for all ages full of gorgeous, colourful images that perfectly complement the bilingual English/German text.
