Rather than confusing people by her last name, uses FERN as a "clever" moniker for her foray onto Saskatoon's folk music scene. With encouragement from friends and members of the Ray Whitton band, she has been showcasing a mix of originals and covers at coffee shop gigs and open mic nights for the past year and a half.
Sometimes solo, sometimes accompanied by viola (Michael Peterson), FERN is slowly building an audience around town. Perhaps these musical shenanigans have been encouraged by a disproportionate caffeine:blood ratio, but have nevertheless led to a love of exploring and performing music. An EP is in the works for 2012.
