Small Works Gallery Opening & launch of Mike Grandmaison's Prairie & Beyond (Turnstone Press).
Mike Grandmaison’s photography has been published worldwide in magazines, calendars and books. With a background in biology, he worked for the Canadian Forest Service in Edmonton and Winnipeg for 17 years. Since he turned to photography full time in 1996, he has published five collections of his natural landscape photography, and he recently opened The Canadian Gallery in Winnipeg. Grandmaison has taught and lectured on photography and conducted nature-focused workshops for many years.
In lush full colour, the images in Prairie & Beyond capture the vastness of sky and land with scenes of the elusive Northern Lights, misty fields at dawn, endless horizons, and the immense skies that define the prairie landscape.
This is not only a book launch, but also serves as the opening of a gallery show, displaying prints of some of Grandmaison’s recent work as part of McNally Robinson Booksellers’ Small Works Gallery Series: a monthly exhibit of work from a Winnipeg based artist on display in Prairie Ink Restaurant.
